Every once in a while, I get to step outside of my usual wedding world and do something a little different — and Trinity and Brandon’s “half-baked” maternity session was exactly that.
This session was such a fun little creative break. We actually photographed it right in my home, using the natural light pouring through my kitchen windows. The bright whites and neutral tones throughout the space fit their vision perfectly and gave everything a soft, cozy, lifestyle feel. It was simple, intimate, and full of personality — which is exactly what I love most.
Now for the fun part… no cookies were actually baked during this session. Trinity and Brandon brought cookie dough (which you’ll see in some of the photos), and I grabbed some chunky Chips Ahoy cookies to help bring the concept to life. At one point, we were laughing because we accidentally left a few wrappers in the background of some shots and had to quickly move them and retake the photos. It made the whole thing feel even more real and unfiltered.
And let’s talk about the flour. Oh my goodness — the flour was a hot mess. Trinity was inspired by one of those dreamy photos where you clap your hands and the flour bursts into the air. Sounds easy, right? We had to redo it about six times. By the end of it, flour was everywhere — on the counters, the floor, probably places I’m still finding. But it was so worth it. Those moments of trying, laughing, and making a mess together are what made the session so special.
I don’t typically photograph maternity sessions anymore. When I first started my photography journey, I did more of them, but over time I shifted primarily into weddings and engagements. Doing this session was honestly refreshing. It felt slower, lighter, and less hectic than a wedding day timeline — and it reminded me why I fell in love with photography in the first place.
What made this session even sweeter is the history behind it. I photographed Trinity and Brandon’s engagement session, then their wedding day, and now here we are — halfway through their pregnancy with a baby girl on the way. Being able to walk alongside my couples through so many different seasons of life is something I never take for granted.
I truly loved this session and the joy that came with it. And who knows — maybe we’ll get together again for some more formal maternity portraits before baby girl arrives. Either way, I’m so grateful to have documented this chapter for them.
