Trinity and Brandon’s wedding took place on August 11th at the Estate at Elegant Occasions in Hogansville, Georgia, and from start to finish it was such a beautiful, meaningful day. Trinity actually booked me separately for her wedding after her engagement session, which made it even more special because we’d already worked together before. And Trinity isn’t just any client — she’s actually my cousin! Don’t ask me what type of cousin because honestly, I have no idea the exact title, I just know she’s my cousin and that’s what matters. We reconnected during her engagement session after years of not seeing each other, literally since we were kids, and it was so fun getting to know her again as an adult. She’s still the same fun, outgoing, confident person I remember, super feminine, and she totally knows what she wants. She’s also one of those people who says, “I don’t know how to pose,” and then completely kills it in front of the camera — one of my absolute favorite people to photograph.
Before her wedding, she actually booked a fun friend photoshoot for one of her friend’s birthdays, so by the time the wedding came around, I’d already gotten to know her and her friends better, which made the whole day even easier and more comfortable. The venue she chose was absolutely stunning — the Estate at Elegant Occasions is one of those places that looks beautiful online, but seeing it in person is a whole different experience. It’s this gorgeous, historic building with so much character. She booked me for around four hours, which I originally thought wouldn’t be enough time, but it ended up being perfect for her short and sweet wedding day.
When I arrived, I walked around with her for a bit while she finished getting some things ready. She didn’t have a DJ, so we sorted out who was going to play music, and her friends (who I had already met from that previous shoot) stepped in to help. It honestly ran so smoothly, and it was fun to be able to chat with everyone without that awkwardness of meeting people for the first time. Trinity got ready with the help of one of her coworkers who she mentioned was like a mom to her, and during that time, her soon-to-be mother-in-law came up to give her a little gift and note. It was such a sweet, emotional moment. Then she got dressed, and when I say she looked stunning — she truly did. She had this glow about her, and her bridal portraits are some of my favorites.
After that, I went downstairs to capture Brandon with his mom out front of the building, and it was another really sweet and emotional moment. Then we moved into Trinity’s first look with her dad — she came down the stairs, he turned around, and it was just one of those perfect father-daughter moments that tug at your heartstrings. Then it was time for the ceremony, which was short, simple, and filled with love. Watching how smoothly things ran without a DJ kind of rewired my brain about weddings. It showed me that you don’t necessarily need all the “must-have” things we’re told we do — the day can flow beautifully even when it’s kept simple. Trinity came down the aisle with her dad looking so radiant, and the whole ceremony was just so sweet.
Now, this next part cracked me up. During the ceremony, my (I think?) uncle — he’s technically Trinity’s grandfather, but I’m pretty sure he’s my uncle by marriage — stopped me mid-photo and asked if I could grab him a napkin. I told him I’d find someone to help, but it was so funny because he’s such a jokester, and I couldn’t tell if he was serious or not. Either way, it gave me a good laugh in the middle of working. Once the ceremony ended, they walked back down the aisle, did the cutest little dip-and-kiss moment, and we headed around the property for portraits.
One of the staff members at the venue turned on the fountain out front, and I was so excited because I knew it would make for some incredible shots — and it did! Those ended up being some of my favorites. Trinity also requested photos on the front balcony of the building, and it gave total “old money” vibes, like something straight out of a movie. Then we moved to the vineyard behind the venue for a few more portraits, even though it was HOT (because, well, August in Georgia). She was joking with me about it, asking when I got married and saying she couldn’t believe I’d also chosen August. We both agreed that August weddings are beautiful but definitely come with a lot of heat!
The reception was just as sweet as the ceremony — short, intimate, and full of love. It wasn’t traditional at all, and I loved that about it. There weren’t any first dances or bouquet tosses, but there was music playing, lots of laughter, and everyone just genuinely enjoying each other’s company. Trinity and Brandon did a cake cutting, popped some champagne, mingled with guests, and it all just felt very real and relaxed. I took photos of all the guests, little moments of them chatting and smiling, and it was such a cozy, love-filled vibe.
One little surprise I had for them was something I decided to do on my own — a short highlight video. It wasn’t a full videography setup, just little snippets I captured throughout the day. I also pulled aside a few of their loved ones, including parents, and asked them to share a quick message for the couple on camera. It ended up being such a sweet, emotional video, and I really hope they loved it as much as I did putting it together.
This wedding, even though it was short and simple, taught me so much about myself as a photographer. I found myself naturally stepping into a coordinator role — helping keep things on track, adjusting timelines, and making sure everything flowed smoothly — and it reminded me that photographers often do a lot more than just take pretty pictures. It also reminded me that weddings don’t have to be big or traditional to be beautiful. You don’t need a fancy DJ, a long timeline, or a bunch of planned dances for your day to feel full of love and magic. Trinity and Brandon’s wedding was proof that the most meaningful days are the ones that feel true to you — and theirs was exactly that.
